"Wefts" are modelled in faience and porcelain. Just like the «Webs» they are a transposition of the memory of laces, ropes, and fabrics, compressed into the soft matter of clay. At first the chosen artefacts are pressed into flat clay to accurately capture their qualities. Then through plasticity they are delicately remodelled. The action of imposing tensions onto the clay, pushes the material to the limit of rupture and tearing; and this lends to the forms a sense of elegant compression and a stretching motion. Thus, «Webs» is evocative of flexible shrouds altered by use. Arranged side by side on a flat surface, they are reminiscent of organic forms, such as shells, pebbles, thrown back on the shore by the tide.
