"Webs" are embossed engravings that are drawn in "trompe-l'œil". This series of works finds its inspiration in my mother's sewing workshop. As a child I collected ribbons, ropes, laces and scraps of fabrics for their qualities of construction and design. An intaglio press is used to imprint material into humidified paper; the various reliefs capture and preserve the traces of the objects’ memories. Once the paper is dry, the surface is enhanced with chalk and graphite. The frame’s neutral zone allows the overflowing of the entanglement of materials wherein the sculptural dimension of the embossed paper joins with the graphic dimension of the work.
